Heroic rough black metal from Finland's Vaasa is presented here. This band's music sounds like taking part in their total war. Though brutality is presented here, catchy melodies have not been forgotten on the way to battle. The beats are well arranged and various. The intro "Gloriam Noctum" is rather short but nonetheless it does deliver the idea of real, honourable and authentic passion concerning the art of black metal. No disturbing elements are given. It's rough as it it supposed to be. Rough and original. It seems as if the band has never forgotten the back to the roots-feeling either.
The second song "Drawing the Darkness" can be considered to be pure. Mighty arrangements and changes in tempo leave the listener behind in a positively challenged way of being scared. Extreme black metal accompanied by its death metal servant throughout its journey to glorious death. The lyrics are dealing with occultism, death and misanthropy. A perfect mixture in its own individual way; metal through black Finnish eyes. The concept is rounded by the employment of melodies which are carefully added to the music. They do in no way destroy the picture of brutality drawn here and support the message of this work at last.
The third song "Three ways to Salvation" deals with a quite common theme of extreme metal in general. It covers self- destruction and gives a short impression how this can sound like. The straightest song on the album in my opinion. The thing itself is often described as straight-forward.
The last song "Tempus Eversionis" sums up the thing quite well. Some of the purest black metal I have heard for long. For it's a demo done on the guys' own responsibility, the sound quality is though satisfying. Nice that Vuohivasara insisted on free creativity. The attitude "Music is emotion" is realized here. Check them out and join their battle for the last pieces of non-artificial extreme metal. The north is calling, brutal winter approaching. Beware the Goathammer...
